Project Leaders Needed: National Trails Day

April 30, 2014  | By Shoal Creek Conservancy

National Trails Day, an annual citywide volunteer day on Austin’s trails, is on Saturday, June 7. The Conservancy is encouraging folks up and down Shoal Creek to join them in signing up to lead projects this year. It’s a great opportunity for us to come together as a community to celebrate and improve the trail.

Everyone is welcome to lead a project along the trail. As a project leader, you choose the activities and the number of volunteers you’d like as well as the tools you need from the shared toolshed. Project ideas include trash pickup, weeding, graffiti abatement and other improvements along the trail or even organizing an event, such as a hike or photography walk.

If you are interested, the deadline for registering projects is May 26. Please sign up today! National Trails Day is hosted by the Austin Parks Foundation, in partnership with Hill Country Conservancy and Texas Conservation Corps.

Registration for volunteers to participate in projects opens May 19. Volunteers will receive a Chipotle gift card, KIND bar, and join us for food, drinks, and music at the NTD After Party. Thank you hosts and sponsors! Learn more.

Look forward to seeing you on the trail.
