Title: Development Coordinator

Shoal Creek Conservancy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2013 with the mission of restoring, protecting and enhancing the ecological, social and cultural vibrancy of Shoal Creek for the people of Austin, Texas by engaging the public and partnering with the community.

Job Description: Shoal Creek Conservancy seeks a highly organized, detail-oriented person with experience in nonprofit development. The Development Coordinator will assist with the design, execution and monitoring of a comprehensive development strategy to meet the fundraising goals of the Conservancy. The Coordinator will report to the Executive Director and work closely with the Conservancy’s Board President and members.

Donors and Grants

  • Assist with the development and implementation of a fundraising plan and annual calendar 
  • Assist with strategy development for potential donors, including building and monitoring prospect list and developing and executing stewardship plans
  • Assist with personal solicitations for funds from individuals and corporations, including sending invoices and coordinating personalized acknowledgements
  • Design and coordinate giving campaigns, including direct mail and email solicitations
  • Manage donor database, including tracking gifts, maintaining profiles, running reports, overseeing acknowledgements, managing renewals under $500 and fulfilling membership benefits
  • Provide weekly gift, pledge and invoice status reports and assist with board meeting preparation
  • Research foundation and government grant opportunities and draft proposals and reports
  • Maintain grant calendar to track proposal and reporting deadlines

 Campaigns and Events:

  • Serve as the Conservancy’s staff lead for the annual spring fundraising event, the Shoal Creek Awards, including supporting the Awards volunteer committee and assisting with fundraising
  • Design and implement the Conservancy’ annual Amplify Austin campaign
  • Spearhead the Conservancy’s involvement the Give 5% to Mother Earth campaign
  • Develop and implement an annual fall fundraising event and/or donor cultivation events

 Additional Responsibilities

  • Partner with the communicationsteam to promote fundraising events and campaigns
  • Produce marketing materialssuch as e-newsletters, brochures, and annual report
  • Manage development internand related volunteers
  • Support the Executive Director and attend Conservancy events as needed

Bachelor’s Degree
Direct experience in the field of nonprofit development with proven success in fundraising preferred
Strong writing, editing, proofreading and communication skills
Experience with grant writing a plus
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple ongoing projects
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office
Proficiency with donor management software such as Salesforce
Experience with WordPress, MailChimp and InDesign (or similar) a plus
Ability to work occasional nights and weekends for special events and programs
Self-starter who enjoys building systems and working as a part of small team
Enthusiasm for the Conservancy’s mission
