What:

Do you love spending time outside and wish that your pictures captured the memories and landscapes you explore? Join us on Friday, July 17th, at 5 pm for a Nature Photography Happy Hour with Ian M. Wright.

Ian M. Wright is a field biologist with over a decade of photography experience. He specializes in macro and wildlife photography but also enjoys photographing people and, especially, the intersection of people and science. He began shooting with SLRs as a hobby in 2008 which has grown into a passion for documenting the species and behaviors he finds during field work or on his many expeditions to observe species and their habitats around the country and the globe.

In this online workshop, Ian will cover the basics of macro photography and the best ways to achieve results for cell phones, point and shoot cameras, and SLRs. He’ll start with cell phone photography and some tips, techniques, and recommended equipment to get the best macro images. Then he’ll cover “macro” mode on point and shoots – how to use it and when not to. Finally, he’ll cover methods of magnification for SLR cameras. Throughout he’ll provide plenty of tips for shooting technique and discuss options for lighting your macro images. The workshop will end with a question and answer session to cover anything he missed!

Here are a few examples of his work:
