Trail Closure: 5th Street Bridge
The Shoal Creek Trail is closed at the 5th Street Bridge. For an ADA accessible detour, trail users can use the ramp just north of West Avenue and make their way north along West Avenue to W 6th Street, then take the ramp located on the south side of the street back down to trail level. Timeframe: May 1-20, 2026 (estimated)

Trail Closure: Shoal Creek Blvd to Janet Fish Bridge
The Shoal Creek Trail is closed between Shoal Creek Blvd and the Janet Fish Bridge. The trail detour is the sidewalk along the west side of N Lamar Blvd between Shoal Creek Blvd and 29th Street. Click the map below for a closer look.

Timeframe: April 27-May 18, 2026
Purpose: Austin Parks and Recreation is performing important repairs to resurface the trail and restore accessibility in this popular stretch of trail in Pease Park, allowing all users to travel safely and comfortably when complete. (Austin Parks and Recreation Facilities Closure page)
Trail Closure: 26th-27th Street (site of landslide)
Major landslides along the Shoal Creek Trail in Pease Park occurred in May 2018 and May 2019 causing significant damage to public and private property. The resulting debris has blocked the Creek and Trail from approximately 26th-27th Street. The trail detour is the paved sidewalk on the east side of the creek along N Lamar Blvd. Click the map below for a closer look.
Shoal Creek Conservancy continues to be a strong advocate for remediation at this site. The City included this area in the South Gap segment of their 24th-34th Shoal Creek Trail Connectivity Gaps Project, which underwent public review in 2024 and is currently in the design phase.
