Shoal Creek Flood Forum Recap

February 24, 2016  | By Shoal Creek Conservancy

More than 65 people came together Tuesday, February 23 to discuss flooding at the first Shoal Creek Forum. Check out KEYE-TV’s coverage here.

Speaker Kevin Shunk from the City’s Watershed Protection Department explained why Shoal Creek floods and described steps the City has taken to mitigate flooding, as well as options they are studying for the future. SCC volunteer Jeff Henke talked about his work with the Flood Mitigation Task Force and their forthcoming recommendations report. A lively discussion followed the presentations, focusing on ways to mitigate future flooding.

Kevin Shunk’s presentation is available here and notes from the meeting will be shared on the Conservancy’s website shortly.

Thanks again to Whole Foods Market for providing lunch and to Cirrus Logic for providing the venue for our first Forum!
