The Shoal Creek trail is now closed between 5th Street and Lady Bird Lake. Curious about what’s happening behind those barricades? Join us on a tour of the projects currently underway on lower Shoal Creek ranging from the new central library to the tallest condo tower west of the Mississippi and plans for the old Austin Music Hall.
This tour will begin with a coffee social with REI at the outdoor patio area in front of Book People. After fueling up for the day, the tour will move on to the trail and will be led by the Executive Director of Shoal Creek Conservancy Joanna Wolaver and representives from the various public and private sector projects. Speakers include John Gillum, City of Austin Library Facilities Manager, and Darryl Haba, manager of the project to close the gap in the trail below 5th Street. The tour will end at the 3rd Street pedestrian bridge.
