We couldn’t do what we do at Shoal Creek Conservancy without our interns. Please join us in welcoming our Summer 2016 interns!

Jane Simkins, Communications Intern, joins the Conservancy on the heels of a Master’s program in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Administration from Western Illinois University. She will be shaping our social media presence and communicating the impact of SCC’s programs.

Lucy Huang joins us for her third semester as SCC’s Development Intern, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Lucy is a Management Information Systems major at the University of Texas and manages the Conservancy’s database. This summer, Lucy is tackling our information management challenges and configuring Salesforce to evaluate the efforts of our operations.

Ekta Patel joins SCC as Development Intern with a special focus on grants management. In May, she completed a double major in Health & Society and French from the University of Texas. Ekta is passionate about nonprofit fund development as well as public health, and she will be heading to Columbia University in the fall to begin a Master’s program in Public Health, Health Policy and Management. It is her goal to combine healthcare policy research and development in nonprofits to further the level of integrated care individuals can receive.

Amy Combs has joined SCC as our Programs Intern. She is completing her Master’s in Community and Regional Planning at the University of Texas, with a focus on economic development and environmental planning. She is bringing her planning and research experience to assist with, among a number of projects, the Shoal Creek Watershed Action Plan and the trail restoration work between 2nd and 4th streets.
