Shoal Creek Shopping Cart Corral 2025 Recap

Thanks to SCC volunteers, Austin’s Watershed Protection Department, and Austin Resource Recovery, the third annual Shoal Creek Shopping Cart Corral was a huge success!
On Saturday, July 26 more than 80 volunteers, WPD staff, and ARR staff at 6 locations along Shoal Creek, and in just 2 hours, collectively removed 9 shopping carts, 170 bags of litter, and lots of large bulky items like 5 mattresses, 7 wooden pallets, rugs, tarps, a stroller, a full-size basketball goal, and so much more! These efforts amounted to a staggering 5,000 pounds of litter removed from Shoal Creek!
